Poem 82 of 230: ON ACTS 4:32-35
Believers were all one in heart and mind -
They shared their excesses with those behind;
No-one claimed any possessions one’s own -
Yes, it was socialism on the throne.
So not long were there desperate folk -
Fair distribution was the tongue they spoke;
And wealthy owners would transfer their deed -
Funds, via apostles, to those in need.
Yet today, all round our troubled Earth,
Some Christians, comfy at their own snug hearth,
Vote for their electorate’s Right-Wing party -
That’s hypocritical, it seems to me.
